And because it’s Christmas time….
…I feel like playing Santa and have a brand new giveaway on the blog.
Remember me talking about skincare and how each of us have our own skin care routines which we have evolved for ourselves over the years and swear by all that is holy, that they are what keep us looking our radiant glowing selves. For me, my routine is pretty simple. Wash, moisturise, use sunscreen. That is the basic. Once a week, I might use a face scrub and a face pack. Parlour visits for my skin, zilch. In fact my only visits to the parlour are for a haircut and regular defoliation and maintenance. Not, much to the horror of the wellmeaning ladies who work there, for any treatment of any sort. While this might be too radical for most folks, I’m asking you to tell me what your skin care routine is. Here in the comments section. Two of the most interesting skin care routines (as judged by the good folks at Kiehl’s India) will win a Kiehl’s India goody bag.
The last day to enter the contest is December 15th EOD. Please mention your location in your comment. The contest is limited to India residents.
Decisions taken by the judges are final, and they are free to reverse their decision.
“This giveaway is sponsored by Kiehl’s India. So let’s show them our appreciation by following @KiehlsIndia on Twitter.

My skin care routine is simple. Apply lather. Shave. You have my address to send the goody bag?
My skin care routine?
1. It has to be beautiful inside to get the glow outside. So lots of fruits, plenty of water and positive thoughts.
2. Keep it simple – moisturiser everyday. good face wash daily. facial once in 6 months. and nothing on the face at night.
Am from Bangalore, age 35, female…
Everyone, please mention your location in India, gender and age with your comments (to tailor goody bag appropriately if you win, of course).
Mine’s simple when my skin behaves, and more complicated when it’s cold and dry outside, or if i’m travelling.
Every day I:
- wash with gentle facewash
- soothe with pure aloe vera juice
- moisturise with a high-hyaluronic acid moisturiser
- protect with an SPF of 30+
- use copious quantities of lip blam
At night I:
- clean with a gentle cleansing oil
- moisturise again
- use eye cream
Once a week I:
- use a deep-cleansing mask
- put pure, live yoghurt on my skin
- massage with a wild rose balm
Once a month I:
- have a facial
…but it’s got to be said, none of this matters if i’m not eating well, doing yoga, getting at least 8 hours of sleep and drinking lots of water, all of which i endeavour to do, with varying degrees of success!

Hi Kiran,
Thanks for posting this here. Would love to share my routine. I like to not mix too many potions on my skin. I truly believe its a balanced mix of a good diet and keeping your skin clean with weather appropriate nourishment.
Diet wise, I like to drink lots of water and eat one fruit a day. And that is all I can fit into my struggling-in-mumbai scene at the moment.
Nothing replenishes and freshens up your face more than water. I like to wash my face everytime I come back from outside. In the mornings I use a light facewash with shower and a sunscreen based moisturizer later.
In the evenings I use cleansing milk first to do away with that leftover kajal and any other dust etc. Then a facewash and a body butter to finish.
I have very sensitive skin and so I am very careful with exfoliation and scrubs, once a week is what suits me, I also try and take steam once a week before using an scrub.
Sinple this sounds, but this is all that I do for home routine
And I pretty happy with it.
Thanks,
Nainy

1. I use a Rosewater ice cube every morning on my face and massage 2 drops of olive oil massage every night. This keeps my skin (which btw, is super dry) hydrated and soft and glowing.
2. I add 2 spoons baking soda in my bath once or twice a week. this kills the bacteria and prevents blemishes and pimples which often erupt on my back and shoulders.

I am blessed with lovely but sensitive skin. So It is simple routine I stick to. Wash mostly with water or soap free face wash, invest in a good moisturizer, and of course sun block cream. Occasional indulgence in face scrub and face mask. Loads of water and fruits along with.
and B’lore/F/34. Wish me luck
My 2 interesting skincare routine-
1. I exfoliate my lips daily morning with honey & sugar.
2. Scrub body daily during bath with Grind Almonds & Milk/Besan, curd, lemon juice & sugar.
Then as always cleanse>tone>moisturise my skin 2 times daily.

My skin care routine very basic and simple .use a face wash and moisturizer is a must through out the year .winter care lotion in winters .No night creams . Genetically blessed with a good skin ,And yes sunscreen too but in moderation .Only once a day.
My mom is a believer in nature’s treasure trove of nutrients. Every sunday, she would use up the fruit pulp from breakfast juices right before her shower. I loved flavours, so i decided to make face packs. So out came honey, chickpea flour or strawberry cream and oats facepacks during winter and rosewater, multani mitti and chandan or watermelon, mint and lime during summer. Yes, beauty can come straight out of the kitchen and make you feel and look yum! Btw, im a mumbai girl
My skin care routine is what my mom follows – I put whatever fruit I am eating on a given day on my face. So, everything from bananas to strawberries to melons. I love it coz it all tastes and smells gorgeous and is super organic.
Mom makes the most amazing really mild scrub with besan, haldi, orange peels and a trillion other things that I use every other day.
Apart from this, there is the moisturizer & sunblock combo that I swear by. I have hazar freckles (also thanks to my mom) so I use a SPF 50 over the moisturizer and reapply every 4-6 hours. Every other night, I apply a one capsule of vit c.
I can’t live without lip balm and own at least a dozen of them – one for every bag, every room, car, office and loo (okay, just kidding about the loo).
I also love facials… I am not sure they make much of a difference to my face. At least the husband never notices! I get one every month.
As for my asl…. 35, female, mumbai

My skin care routine : My skin is very sensitive /allergic to soaps , so I use Gram-flour ( Besan ) + Multani mitti + Sandalwood powder as a scrub for daily bath. In the winter , when the skin becomes dry , I massage with Johnson’s Baby oil for my face , neck & hands .

I think Shan should win a hamper. I’d award a man who shaves daily, and if you see a recent photo of the man, you’d know why!
My ‘routine’ is a lack of dependence on moisturiser. I plan to use more as I get older but for now I try not to moisturise daily unless my skin is really dried out. Occasionally I use a favourite facepack for combination skin and I try to drink a lot of water. Mostly my skin’s decent, thank god. In the winter’s I find it works wonders if I cleanse and moisturise nightly.
I have always been told I am blessed with good skin & hair and I have never really taken care of them too seriously. For me good skin & hair runs in the family. While growing up I used to apply malai , lemon juice, sliced potatoes, besan, turmeric paste, multani mitti, on after a visit to a beach it wasn’t really a religious routine ( while all of these worked wonders for me).
When I look back today a part of my skin care routine is a diet rich in fish protein and plenty of sleep & water & generous intake of bitter gourd ( loved the vegetable since childhood). I never had acne while growing up ( nor do I have now now) and was spared the embarrassment in teenage/adulthood.
I have a normal skin with a tendency to get a little oily in the T zone during that of the month. At 31 my skin routine is limited to Vitamin E oil massage before I sleep and a quick scrub once a week. In summer I use a sunscreen when I step out and in winter ( and if I am travelling outside Mumbai) I use Vitamin E as my moisturizer too.
Easy and hassle free.

@Sue: Hear! Hear! And thanks!
My skincare routine is quite similar to yours. Facewash, toning and moisturising morning and night. Scrub once a week and facial once in a blue moon. Am 28 from chandigarh.
Since I am short of time in the morning, I use a soap free face wash followed by a moisterizing body lotion and a lip balm.
At night I follow a routine of cleansing, toning and moisturizing.
I am 26, female from Mumbai.
30, female, Bangalore. At this age, you’d think I will have seen the end of pimples and breakouts, but heck no. If it’s that time of the month, or if I’m out in the dust for more than a few hours, hello breakouts! Gah.
To start with, I use a very mild facewash in the morning. No moisturizer whatsoever even in winter because I have sensitive, oily skin. In the evening, facewash again, followed by a mild toner.
Once a week, a multani mitti pack.
Occasionally, I snip off a bit from my aloe vera plant and apply the flesh to my face, along with extract from mint (pudina) leaves. Very refreshing.
When I’m cooking, it’s either the peel of a tomato, or avocado or something nourishing that gets applied on my face when I’m done.
What NEVER fails to make my skin feel glowing and good? 7-8 hours of sleep, yoga at least 4 days a week and umm…some good ol’ action

My skin care regime? Drink gallons of water, eat plenty of fresh fruits and veggies, splash face with cold tap water whenever it feels parched…moisturizer during daytime; sunscreen while going out and a good nourishing lotion at night…oh yes! I do believe in the occasional besan-malai routine and once-a-month clean-up facial.
My skin looks 10 years younger than me
Sorry, forgot to add that I’m from Pune
Morning: Facial fuel cleanser in the shower. Kiehls Eye depuffer and Facial fuel to get me energized. The pleasant scent gets me invigorated for the day.
Evening: Cleanser, toner, Eye brightening concentrate, and the magic blue bottle stuff.
A few times a week, I use the Rare Earth mask…I like to answer the door for a dinner delivery and show it off.
Kiehls…helping me age gracefully since November 2011. Thanks Anurag!
Skin care? Well, face wash ( I started these about 6 months ago, earlier it was just the soap of the day!) moisturise (when I remember, specially required in winter, in summer it’s too hot and humid for body lotions). In winter Vicco Turmeric works well at bedtime! No facial and stuff, have often thought of getting one but the one time I got a facial was before my wedding and I broke out in spots! I have DLE which kind of adds up to sun allergy, according to the doc I should just curl up in the dark and die, but I just rely on some good sunscreens instead! One that works is non greasy suncros aquagel. Much to my disdain, I have learnt the hard way to be specially careful when holidaying, the sun can wreck havoc if I let it!
